National Friendship Day

National Friendship Day

Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. Maybe stronger than an “acquaintance” or an “association,” such as a classmate, neighbor, coworker, or colleague.

In some cultures, the concept of friendship is restricted to a small number of very deep relationships; in others, such as the U.S. and Canada, a person could have many friends, plus perhaps a more intense relationship with one or two people who may be called good friends or best friends.

“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

How do we go about bringing mindfulness into our friendships?

Some ideas might be to

  • show up and be present
  • listen intently and single-mindedly
  • observe your own reactions and sensations
  • enjoy the moment
