What is mindfulness?

Learn more about what we do each day here. Simple mindfulness practices you can use anywhere. First, try observing your breathing and let it go in and out by itself. Next, use your mind’s eye to roam about the body and notice sensations as they occur. Finally, you might visualize a relaxing scene or something or someone you are grateful for.

Why we think awareness-based practices work.

We believe mindfulness is foundational to the art of being human. It may be as vital as air, water, food, shelter, and belonging. Many practical, spiritual, and non-dogmatic sources propose the benefits of mindfulness. Read more about making mindfulness the “new bio break.”

How people use a mindfulness calendar.

Western psychology has developed therapeutic mindfulness-based applications to help people. First, mindfulness is used to reduce depression, stress, and anxiety. It may help manage pain and treat drug addiction. Second, mindfulness techniques show up in schools, sports, government, prisons, hospitals, and businesses, among others. Third, awareness-based practice may help in healthy aging weight or management. Finally, we see that present-moment awareness can help athletic performance, children with special needs, and during life transitions.

We’d love to hear how you use awareness-based practices. Reach out to art@at250.org
