Why are we doing @2:50?

We envision a world where everyone everywhere can effortlessly join a mindful practice together at any hour on any day.

For this reason, @2:50 offers daily silent mindfulness reflection periods for free. Anyone can join. At two-fifty was created at MIT (Cambridge, MA) and is open to the world. Daily, volunteer-run events help you reflect and recharge, normalizing silence in our daily lives. @2:50 does not promote any creed, sect, organization, or ideology. We simply meet every day for ten minutes of quiet. Everyone, everywhere, is invited. Register for a daily email or download calendar reminders.

How was @2:50 created?

The daily event has brought together people from every continent for nearly five years and more than half a million pereson/minutes of quiet reflection together. We started as a simple daily practice for the staff and researchers at MIT and grew out to serve a global audience.

Insights on a community of practice after 1750 consecutive days from Art, a founding member.

  • Commitment, regularity, and simplicity can supercharge a mindfulness or meditation practice.
  • Intending an indefinite daily cadence meets uncertainty and life changes on their terms, anytime.
  • Making mindfulness together in real time makes a quantum connection in community.
  • The group determines the outcomes, and we’re forced to be unattached.
