On this day, September 3, 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed ending the American Revolution this giving the first 13 colonies independence. The American Revolutionary War was between Great Britain and the United States. It also established the boundaries between the U.S. and British North America (Canada). Included were fishing rights for the United States off the coast of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
