On this day, September 11, 1951, Florence Chadwick was the first woman to swim the English channel from both directions. She completed her first crossing from France to England in 13 hours and 20 minutes. This set a new record for the fastest swim by a woman at the time. England to France took 16 hours and 22 minutes. She was an American long-distance swimmer who was born in 1918 and died in 1995.

After a long swim it is good to stretch. Here are some great stretches to do.
